Today social networks are taking a firm root in our life. However, the scale of penetration and usage of these social networks differ according to geography and demographic factors.
Results of research conducted by CCI of PMR among inhabitants of Tiraspol, Bendery and Rybnitsa at the age of 18-years and above gave an opportunity to create a diagram that provides a clear understanding of the active users number (in %) in the most popular social networks and messengers.
“Odnoklassniki” heads the list. This social network takes up most of the market due to more than 43% of active users. The nearest competitor of “Odnoklassniki” is the social network “Vkontakte”. On the third place with 36% of active users is the messenger “Viber”. The next one is “Instagram” that is used by every fifth citizen. Its audience is mainly young people between at the ages of 18 and 35 years.
“Facebook”, which is global leader, takes only the sixth place in Pridnestrovie with 15% of users. It’s mainly inhabitant of Tiraspol at the ages of 25 and 45 years.
And as for social status, people in leadership positions use mainly this one.
Understanding these differences plays an important role in targeting at specific audience.
